The best high-paying freelance writing gigs of the week: July 13, 2020
This week’s best paying gigs for freelance writers.
Hey, No-fluffers! I hope you’ve been doing great this month pitching new clients. Remember, you have to pitch a lot to get results. I know it’s frustrating sometimes, but it pays off. You will see results!
Pro tip: Even if you don’t get the gig, perusing these job lists can give you a feel for what kinds of content people are looking for and may even give you some ideas for your niche.
Here’s some places you can pitch. These gigs pay at least $50 an article, offer a full-time salary, or pay more than $20 an hour. They are also all remote (also known as virtual jobs or work-from-home jobs). Be sure to check back each week for a new list of remote writing jobs. freelance jobs for writers.jpeg
Note: I don’t know anything about these positions other than what I post. I weed out the seedy looking ones, but it is your job to be diligent when applying. Also, please don’t message me with questions about the postings. If a link doesn’t work the posting has probably been taken down because the gig has been filled. If you have a gig for freelance writers that pays at least $50 a piece or over $20 an hour, please contact me and I will include your gig in next week’s post.

Submit now: Detour seeks pitches for mental health stories from BIPOC journalists
More information for their site:
Detour Detroit is pleased to partner with the Detroit Equity Action Lab (DEAL), an initiative of the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights at Wayne State University Law School, to support independent journalists of color to cover racial justice issues and their impact on Detroit’s Black, immigrant and low-income communities.
BIPOC writers are invited to submit pitches by July 24 for stories that shine a spotlight on mental health issues in Detroit’s marginalized communities.
We’re looking for stories that go beyond the surface and disrupt common narratives. We want to hear stories that center Detroiters’ particular challenges when it comes to mental health and accessing care, whether concerns that have arisen in the wake of the pandemic and police brutality protests or issues that have gone unaddressed for much longer. We’re also interested in stories that explore gaps in public and private systems of care — and community-driven alternatives that have filled those spaces.
We aim to foster connections with journalists of color and deepen our community-centered coverage. With DEAL, Detour will offer journalists competitive rates, resources and mentorship.
Stories can take the form of features, essays, explainers or other narratives based in original reporting. Pitches should include the particular mental health issue/s and Detroit community/ies that will be featured, potential sources and links to any data, secondary sources or open questions that informed the initial pitch. Please include writing samples and a bio or resume. Google Doc, PDF or Word files are the preferred formats for attachments.
Submit pitches by 6 p.m. on July 24 by emailing kate@detourdetroiter.com with the subject line “PITCH: Mental health.”

Can an Introvert Run a Successful Blog?
In this article, we’ll be taking a closer look at the matter and provide some useful actionable tips to help you start a prosperous blogging career as an introvert.
Guest post by Michael Deane
A lot of people have misconceptions about introverts. They see them as individuals who are quiet, shy, and who are only looking for ways to stay out of the limelight.
The truth is a bit different - social interactions make introverts feel tired and drained. When they’re alone, however, introverts typically feel refreshed and energized.
This is precisely why blogging is the ideal job for introverts. It’s something that requires only minimal interaction, but at the same time allows you to spend a lot of time crafting content for your blog.
Yes, you’ll probably have to reply to a couple of emails and answer one or two phone calls during the week. However, you’ll be free to be alone and write for the rest of the time.
A lot of well-known bloggers are actually staunch introverts - one doesn’t need a life of partying to be successful. In this article, we’ll be taking a closer look at the matter and provide some useful actionable tips to help you start a prosperous blogging career as an introvert.
Why is Blogging Great for Introverts
To become a successful introvert blogger, you will have to be able to market yourself and communicate well to get work.
However, keep in mind that in blogging, everything is done online and from the comfort of your home-based workplace. One of the advantages of this occupation is that you never have to meet your employer. Writing a good cover letter is certainly easier than having face-to-face interviews!
Despite their unwillingness to be at the center of attention, introverts can benefit from blogging - it helps them appear credible and confident. Unlike speaking in person, which can be intimidating, writing lets you perfect your words before letting the world see them.
Introverts love being alone and spending time writing blog content provides just that. It’s the ideal kind of situation - you’re earning money while enjoying the peace and quiet of your safe space.
Tips to Get You Started
To become a successful blogger, whether you’re an introvert or not, you have to keep your audience interested. The following tips should help you get off to a good start:
Grab Your Audience With a Strong Introduction
Nowadays, many people are living fast lives and they don’t have time for reading long stories.
Instead, most of them just skim through articles and stop to read only those paragraphs that catch their attention. For that matter, it’s crucial to create a hook in your introduction - one that will grab people and make them read the whole thing.
A great way to do this is to ask a question right at the beginning and provide an answer later in the article. Another method would be to hook the audience by quoting a statistic or a fact. You can then back it up throughout the piece. Telling an anecdote or a cute story is also a good idea.
Sometimes, an oddly written first sentence can grab people’s attention. You can also quote a success story to pique the interest of readers. Summarizing upfront what the story is about and then providing the details later is yet another method.
Make Your Content Great
Blogging isn’t just writing and posting articles online. In essence, it’s a relationship between you and your audience. To many, it looks like a one-sided conversation, but it actually isn’t.
A lot of blogs allow readers to comment, permitting them to express their opinions or disagreements. A comment system gives the readers an important role and keeps the conversation going. Many successful bloggers enjoy this kind of relationship with readers and encourage them to participate.
To get their audience to respond, they use questions in their articles. A lot of times, bloggers will also use strong, or even shocking opinions, to trigger a reaction. Other times, they will offer solutions to various issues.
No matter the technique you decide to go with, aim to establish a connection with the readers and keep it going.
Get More Attention
One of the most efficient ways to promote a blog is by using social media. Tens of millions of businesses use social media to promote their online presence. Among these, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are the most popular choices.
Optimizing your blog, so that the readers can find your content via search, is just as important. Moreover, keep in mind that more and more people use smartphones and tablets to browse the Internet - it’s vital for your blog to be mobile-friendly.
Many introverts have a lot to say but are afraid to do so. Fortunately, those who aren’t comfortable expressing their ideas, feelings, and thoughts in person can do so online.
So, can an introvert run a successful blog? Absolutely. Being an introvert can cause a lot of different issues in real life, but none of that really matters online. Blogging won’t only let you speak your mind freely - it will also build your confidence.

WriterAccess is Making Big Changes
It seems that WriterAccess is making big changes, which is good news for the writers that use them for income.
It seems that WriterAccess is making big changes, which is good news for the writers that use them for income. The site was getting stale it seems. According to the latest email sent out to writers, the whole site and the way they pay their writers is getting overhauled.
Here’s everything that was announced by Byron White in the email:
Announcing Launch of DesignerAccess
———————————————————————
We’re pleased to announce the launch of DesignerAccess, our sister business and marketplace that greatly expands our services. We’re currently recruiting an elite group of about 500 professionals including designers, illustrators, animators, photographers, and videographers (about 100 freelancers in each category that will cover the full spectrum of pricing).
Please apply in your talent portal if you have the expertise and proven track record. And do help us spread the word to your friends and associates that may be looking for some part-time work to weather the storm and join our liberated workforce.
———————————————————————
New Order Delivery Protocol
———————————————————————
With all the changes to the platform, we’ve seen a spike in orders NOT delivered on time, creating stress for clients and our support team. One reason for the problem is the fact we took away the "Flexible Delivery" option for customers with the new order form. Another reason is that we removed all penalties and performance scoring, along with the point system for star ratings and reviews.
To help us all return to delivery greatness and professional service, we’re rolling out a new plan to pinpoint the problems, resolve the issues, penalize failure, and reward success in creative ways.
Here’s the new plan in a nutshell that relates to Solo Orders, Crowd Orders, Match Me Up Orders, and ALL ORDERS at WriterAccess:
Flexible Delivery DatesWhen customers place orders, they’ll be presented with an option for Flexible Delivery Date on orders. Even better, they’ll have options to pre-approve 24-, 48-, and 72-hour requests for extensions, should the need arise. Failure to select this option will assume there is NOT flexibility, and your ability to request an extension will not be available moving forward.
Initial Review of OrderIt’s your obligation and right to review orders requirements before pickup and confirm you can meet or exceed the expectations, and that includes DELIVERY DATE. If you cannot deliver a project on that date and time, do not pick up the order.
Available orders may or may not have a Request Extension button, depending on the client’s stated flexibility threshold. If the Request Extension button is turned on, you will have the option to view the pre-approved extension time or submit a request for a longer extension.
New Order PickupOnce you pick up an order, you’re committing to delivering that order by the due date or pre-approved flexible delivery date set forth by the client. There is no need to reach out to the client if they have already pre-approved and defined the amount of time the order can be delinquent. Failure to deliver any order you pick up on the delivery date or flex date will result in a penalty assessment by our team.
Extension RequestsIf for any reason you cannot deliver an order after you pick the order up, you may request an extension directly to the client using the Request Extension button on the order details starting next week. You’ll simply select the pre-approved amount of time you need to complete the order, which will then re-set the order delivery date. We’ve built in a 3-hour flex time for all orders, even if the order does not have any flex time approval, to help you juggle small roadblocks for delivery goals without any penalty.
If you submit an extension request beyond the scope of pre-approval, the customer will be sent an email for approval or rejection within the email or by logging on to adjust the delivery date of the order. If they do not grant the extension, you must deliver according to their pre-approved extension or be subject to penalty.
Auto Replace TalentWe also added a new feature on the order form for clients to check-off called Auto Replace Talent that will grant our team the ability to instantly find a replacement for you if the order is dropped, expired, or not picked up, and this applies to all orders including Crowd, Match Me Up, Love List, or Solo Orders. If the client does not select the Auto Replace Talent feature, the orders will be returned to the client and you will be penalized according to the terms below.
Help Desk TicketsIf you are unable to deliver an order or project on the requested date or release an order/project without completing it, you should first Request Extension with the client. If you cannot come to terms with the client and need to drop the order, you should open a Help Desk Ticket to explain your situation, and document your case for the penalty assessment.
———————————————————————
New Penalty Program
———————————————————————
All your activity in the platform will be archived, including help desk tickets, delivery performance, customer ratings, testimonials, and more. Each delivery infringement will be reviewed manually to assess any penalty according to the rules set forth in this documentation.
We understand that there are circumstances outside of your control, especially in light of the recent pandemic. After careful review, we’ll assess any penalty and let you know of our decision with an email and inbox message.
Below is our current plan for penalty assessment for late delivery of orders or other penalties with your performance that are unacceptable, such as offering personal contact information to clients.Level 1: Documentation and Warning
Level 2: Remove from Search Results for 2 Weeks
Level 3: Remove from Crowd Order Access for 2 Weeks
Level 4: Remove from Crowd Orders and Match Me Up 30 Days
Level 5: Suspension from WriterAccess for 30 days
———————————————————————
New Rewards Program
———————————————————————
We’re launching a new Rewards Program starting in July with a new approach to erase penalties often out of your control and reward great performance backed with timely delivery, quality ratings, and customer reviews.
We’ll be closing out our former Rewards Program as we pivot to this new program, so stay tuned with some options to get the original rewards mailed to you or transfer your past rewards to the new program.
We’d like to think of the Reward Program as recognition for your greatness in a public-facing way, and membership with an elite group of top-talent that unite to advance our business model and rid the world of all this bad, boring content that pollutes the web.
Performance will earn you a spot on the roster and badge for your profile. Best of all, you’ll be able to wipe out any past penalties that were often out of your control, and start fresh with the rewards program at any time.

Backpacking, the outdoors, and more articles needed
From Adam Roy, Sr. Digital Editor at Backpacker magazine, via Pitchwhiz:
I am an editor and I do take pitches (backpacking, the outdoors, and anything you can reasonably link to it) for Backpacker Magazine. Online rates range from $150-$250, with average being $175-$200. We may, on rare occasions, pay more for something that really makes us see stars, and sometimes pay less for very short hits or contributions to larger round-ups. Here are a few ways to get an article on Backpacker's site: —Bring me something timely (newsy or seasonal) —Bring me something I haven't heard of before (a trail, a skill, a profile, new science, an exercise routine, etc) —Show me something old from a new angle —Be able to summarize your story in a sentence or two (I know, it loses nuance, but I'm an online editor in the end, and it will convince me that your concept is solid.) Here are some things that will make it harder to land an assignment, but not impossible: —Pitch an essay about a hike that changed your life/where you overcame adversity and came out stronger for it. (I get dozens of these and they make my eyes glaze over.) —Pitch me a destination story about a trail outside of North America (we cover these, but less often than US/Canadian trails, so the bar is high.) —Pitch me a destination story about a place that's exceptionally well-documented—the Wonderland Trail, Yosemite Valley, etc. You don't need to have experience writing about the outdoors or a vast portfolio to write for Backpacker Magazine. If you're a competent and reliable writer with good ideas, we'll work with you.
Pay: $150-$250 per article

Get Paid $1,000 to Take a Virtual Vacation
As the quarantine for the COVID-19 pandemic continues, people are getting very creative about how they stave off cabin fever. One way that museums, theme parks, and other businesses are helping to keep people sane is by creating virtual tours to help them scratch that travel itch.
And is there anything better than getting paid to take a virtual vacation? The team at Upgraded Points is looking for someone to determine which of 10 virtual tours is the best one. They are enlisting someone to take the 10 virtual tours, review the features, and pick one as their dream destination once it’s safe to travel again. And in return, that person will get $1,000 in cash to put towards a trip!
What they are looking for:
An overall love of travel and culture
A passion for art, exploration, and adventure
Strong attention to detail – nothing gets past you!
The ability and availability to take 10 virtual tours within a month
Active social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter
Must be 18 years or older and a US citizen or permanent resident to apply
To apply, fill out the application and tell Upgraded Points why you are the perfect person for the job! Apply here: https://upgradedpoints.com/get-paid-to-take-a-virtual-vacation
A winner will be selected and notified by June 30, 2020.

10 Reasons You're Not Productive Working From Home
Guest post by Elizabeth Shields
Many believe they are more productive working from home compared to working in a traditional office, while others disagree. In this article, you're going to learn the various things hampering your productivity as you work from home. In the end, you should be able to identify them, then navigate your way to a more productive life.
Distractions
The number one cause of unproductivity for work-at-home individuals are distractions. They appear in diverse forms, thereby becoming a stumbling block for achieving your goals. It could be the kids. Maybe they want you to heat the water, or perhaps make lunch. If they aren't fighting, which might often require your attention, then they are calling you for help with their schoolwork.
Aside from the children, your spouse, pets or even neighbors are also other sources of distraction, which can become very exhausting. If you don't correctly manage these, you may find yourself not meeting your goals for the day.
It doesn't matter if you have a dedicated home office, or merely a desk with a laptop in your living room. The fact is that these distractions reduce productivity, thereby making working from home less appealing.
The best way to avoid any distractions while working from home, is to ensure you have a designated space to work from with a door you can close. This will help to avoid any unnecessary distractions. Also, let your family know that you are working and that you are not to be disturbed unless it is an emergency.
Lack of Associate Networking
This fact is currently under debate, as to whether working in a traditional office is more productive due to the teamwork atmosphere. But the reality of working from home often makes one feel alone since there is no associate or coworker to boost their morale.
In a traditional office, there is a timeframe of 9 to 5, unlike working from home. Thus, work at home individuals might find themselves losing track of time and not achieving their goals. But when you have coworkers to work with, you're motivated to work on your project just like everyone else.
An effective way to stay connected with your colleagues when working from home is via online meetings. There are a multitude of tools available to hold such meetings and it may increase your motivation to hold a meeting once a day so you can all see each other and discuss what you are working on.
Lack of Tools and Facilities
Lacking some productivity tools or equipment is another mitigating factor, causing individuals to be less productive in their home office. Due to this, many people have opted for coworking spaces that offer high-speed internet and numerous productivity tools that are often found in a typical traditional office.
The only downside with this is the added expenses. By working from home, you need to improvise and make use of the available tools. However, this cuts down on productivity.
It now begs the question, does working from a traditional office increase productivity compared to working from home? Although many are of the notion that workers can be productive if they can secure the necessary tools they need, the tools and facilities that promote productivity are often missing at home and this can lead to low productivity.
A way around this is to see if your company can help out with costs for high speed internet etc. and to also find out if they have any subscriptions to online productivity tools that they may be able to share with you. If not, don’t worry. Due to the current circumstances, a lot of online tools are currently being offered free of charge so it’s worth doing some online research to see what you can find.
Lacking Management Capability
Working from home can be ideal for some people due to their management skills. When others are complaining of low productivity, some unique individuals are meeting targets and getting more things done. But when someone lacks management skills, it can affect their overall performance.
Being a good manager isn’t a pleasant route. You have to be a planner, diligent and resilient in tackling the task that leads to your goal - management spans beyond just planning but also being able to provide immediate solutions when problems arise.
When most people start working from home, only then do they realize how vital their manager is, especially when it comes to fixing a piece of equipment. Without proper management, one might slack and lose his competitive spirit.
For people working from home for the first time, this is a major hurdle they face, thereby leading to low productivity. Without the right supervision in place, they discover that they are becoming lazy and unable to complete the task in hand.
To manage yourself better, assign yourself a to do list and look at using an online time management tool. You could also speak to your manager and ask if it would be possible to arrange weekly online meetings to give you a focus and accountability.
Lack of Control
Numerous workers perform better with their supervisor or boss telling them what to do continuously. For such folks, working from home would be a terrible decision as productivity would be zero. Since they are working independently and might not have a supervisor, they often fall behind in their work and slack off.
Unlike in a traditional office where the manager might walk from desk to desk, it isn't the same with working from home. There is no one to monitor you or to tell you to hurry up. Even though there are numerous tools like video conferencing, it still doesn't fill the hole.
If your boss often controls you at work and suddenly, you are no longer within grasp, there would be a drastic difference in productivity. Most likely, it would be negative.
In a traditional office setting, workers are serious and want to beat the deadline. No time for YouTube or social media as they would want to concentrate. When it comes to working from home, it presents a different scenario. One might want to check a message but then get carried away checking the news feed. Without a supervisor or manager around, they end up wasting valuable time and accomplishing little.
As mentioned above, you could arrange weekly check in meetings with your supervisor or manager. It is important to take short breaks from your computer during the day but ensure you put a time limit on them - maybe 5 minutes every hour or so – that way you won’t lose track of time.
Lack of Conducive Environment
You cannot compare a traditional office setting to a home office. There is a vast difference between the two. No doubt these differences also have a hand in productivity. In a conventional office, the temperature is just about the right degree, with a beautiful view to the outside and great lighting too. Also, there is no unwarranted noise as everyone is focused on his or her job.
But at home, your home office might not be a fantastic space. The tons of boxes could be a turn-off, or perhaps the cluttered cables and miserable weather conditions. For individuals who are new to working from home, the change in the environment can be an inherent factor.
The moods won't be the same, thereby leading to a laid-back attitude when they are supposed to work. No matter how beautiful they end up making their home office, they still find it hard to concentrate like they do in a conventional office.
The best thing to do is to try to make your workspace as clutter free as possible so that you have a nice environment to work from. If you battle with noise from outside, you could always wear some headphones and listen to some relaxing music while you work.
Multitasking
Working from home comes with several challenges, which leads to low productivity. While working, you might need to do some home chores in the house like laundry, cooking or taking the kids to school. If you don't have help, this method of working will tremendously affect your output and make you miss your goals.
While working from home, you face more than just office work – you have the work around your home too. Managing work and your home can be exhausting and draining. The doorknob might break and in your attempt to fix it, you may end up wasting a huge chunk of your time.
When you're working from home, you have two enormous responsibilities on your shoulders – keeping your home in order and work. It can be a very tough task to combine both. If you lack proper management skills, one aspect of your life will end up suffering.
Set yourself a schedule for home chores so that they fit in around your working hours. Maybe set the laundry going at breakfast time before you start work. And cook enough food for dinner so that you can have the leftovers for lunch the next day so that you do not need to spend a lot of time preparing food in the middle of your work day.
Improper use of Social Media
We are in the era of social media, where everyone has something to say. Without proper care, you might get carried away with social media activities, thereby allowing your work to suffer. According to many work at home individuals, social media is so addictive that you might lose track of time. That is true if you lack proper management skills.
Eliminating or perhaps scheduling time for social media is the best way to avoid missing your daily targets but when you do not adhere to it, low productivity will ensue. Maybe limit yourself to only checking social media before and after work.
Lack of Planning
When there is no clear direction about what you should or should not do, you may find yourself tackling everything as it occurs. This approach is dangerous, as it means you can quickly get distracted and lose tons of time. Without a clear plan on how your day should go, you may miss important things.
To overcome this, make a to do list every morning before getting up. That way, you're always on top of what you need to do. If not, unproductivity becomes the outcome. You can find to do list apps for free on your phone if that makes it easier.
Too many Breaks
All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. Many people working from home, in an attempt to stretch their legs, end up taking more time out than necessary. Not only does this cut down on productivity but it can also become a habit that can be extremely hard to break. Taking too many breaks is one of the significant causes of unproductivity for work at home folks. The good news is, it can be brought to a halt once you recognize this anomaly.
As mentioned previously, the best way to overcome this is to schedule your breaks and stick to them. Time them with the timer on your phone so that you know when to get back to work.
Wrapping Up!
If you've been unproductive working from home, the chances are that you're guilty of some of the above reasons. If that is the case, all hope is not lost. All you have to do is identify the problem and look for a solution. Where there is a will, there is a way!
How to Write a Paragraph the Right Way
No matter if you're just starting out as a writer, or have some experience under your belt, this little guide will get your work read and published. Sit back and take notes.
No doubt you can write a sentence. That's easy. The problem comes when you try to lace those sentences together to make a paragraph, and then go on to write another paragraph.
No matter if you're just starting out as a writer, or have some experience under your belt, this little guide will get your work read and published. Sit back and take notes.
How to Write the First Line
There are several types of paragraphs. The type of paragraph you’re writing determines what your opening sentence will be. Types of paragraphs include:
An introduction paragraph- These are found at the beginning of a blog or article and are meant to draw the reader in while giving them a pretty firm idea of what the rest of the paragraphs are about. Think of it as a hey-I’ve-got-something-awesome-for-you-so-here’s-a-little-summary paragraph. Hit them with an interesting fact or statistic. Try to get this done in three to four sentences. Be sure to use your keyword as soon as possible, too.
Example:
“40 percent of writers don’t know how to write a paragraph correctly, according to Writing XYZ Magazine. That’s a shocking statistic, but you may be in that percentage and not even know it. Here’s what you need to know so that you’re not part of the clueless masses.”
Standard paragraph- The first line of a standard paragraph is meant to either introduce the reader to a topic or to continue a thought from the last paragraph.
Closing paragraph- A closing paragraph sums up what your post was about and tells the reader what to do next. This can be encouraging the reader to click on a link to an article, book, item you’re selling, whatever. No matter what you guide your reader to next, this bit is called a Call to Action (CTA).
Inside the Paragraph
Once you have the opening sentence down, there are a few rules you need to follow.
First, don’t repeat the main word in every line. For example:
Wrong: “40 percent of writers don’t know how to write a paragraph correctly, according to Writing XYZ Magazine. That’s a shocking statistic about writers, but you may be in that percentage and not even know it. Here’s what you need to know so that you’re not part of the clueless writer’s club.”
Notice I used the word “writers” in every sentence. That’s bad. Not only does it make the paragraph boring, writing the same word over and over again will hurt the article’s SEO (I talk more about SEO here).
Next, be sure that each sentence is different. Using sentences that are the same length and construction is boring. Mix it up.
Use:
A short sentence
A compound sentence (a sentence that uses ‘and,’ ‘or,’ ‘but,’ ‘though,’ a semicolon or a colon, etc.)
A sentence that uses a comma
Quotes
Statistics
You get the idea. Sentence salad. Just make sure that each sentence makes sense in how to connects to the sentence before it. Using different lengths of sentences, but not making them stream together in a harmonious stream of thought isn’t going to work.
Check out the difference between these two paragraphs:
Writing is fun. It takes work. Keep being creative. Use variety. Keep readers entertained.
Writing is fun, but it takes work. Keep being creative. Use variety to keep readers entertained.
Thought the first paragraph is perfectly fine, it’s boring and choppy because it only used super short sentences. Mixing up the sentence structures made the paragraph more interesting.
Finally, be sure to always transition from one paragraph to the next. You can do this by using transitional words in the first sentence. These words continue the thought from the last paragraph.
Some transitional words and phrases include:
‘First,’ ‘second,’ and ‘third’
Next
Finally
Again
Also
Then
Though
Additionally
On the other hand
Remember
Don’t forget
Conversely
Even though
Not only
Actually
Besides
Likewise
Hence
Thus
Later
Immediately
Meanwhile
Therefore
Consequently
For instance
For example
Of course
Otherwise
Still
Yet
In contrast
Take a look back at my previous paragraphs in this article and you’ll see I use transitional words a lot. They help your reader follow your thought process and they are particularly useful for guiding readers through how-to instructions.
