The Best High-Paying Freelance Gigs of the Week: December 9, 2019

Are you getting excited about the holidays yet? Or do you just want to get a headstart on new clients for 2020? If you need some new clients, these gigs pay at least $50 an article, offer a full-time salary, or pay more than $20 an hour. They are also all remote (also known as virtual jobs or work-from-home jobs). This means you can do the work from anywhere you want. Rock them pajamas all day long!


Note: I don’t know anything about these positions other than what I post. I weed out the seedy looking ones, but it is your job to be diligent when applying. Experience covering business or technology is a bonus, as is an ability to write authoritatively about a wide range of topics. In any given week, our writers may be expected to produce a piece about artificial intelligence, healthcare, workplace diversity, or emerging trends in industries ranging from energy to e-commerce.

Primary responsibilities include collaborating with our research team, developing concepts for opinion pieces, and working closely with clients and editors to produce completed stories for placement in major media outlets. The candidate must have the confidence to work independently, but also the ability to learn from feedback, in order to produce compelling content that routinely exceeds clients’ expectations. He/She must be easy to work with — no egos here! — and have a good sense of humor.

Staff Reporter - Gender Justice (Remote)

Prism is hiring a Staff Reporter to contribute to our coverage of gender justice, which encompasses issues of reproductive justice, trans and queer liberation, racial justice, immigration reform, and more. Day to day, they will produce a mix of articles, narratives, and features. To this end, this reporter must be fluent in a number of formats, comfortable with anything from a long-form essay to a profile of a local politician or activist to investigative reporting and FOIA requests. This position can be remote.

The Staff Reporter will work in concert with other Prism reporters to zoom in on specific gender justice issues facing underrepresented communities. Apart from their primary focus on gender justice, the reporter will have the opportunity to work on stories for Prism's electoral justice and criminal justice verticals and on other subjects as they arise. The reporter will also have the opportunity to innovate and create new ways to advance our meta-narratives, including via multimedia additions like podcasting and video.

The Staff Reporter must excel at collaboration, as they will work closely with the Managing Editor, reporting team, contributing writers, and Senior Fellows. Prism’s Senior Fellows are national leaders who help establish the big ideas that will guide the vertical’s narrative; staff reporters and contributing writers will delve into and advance these ideas through their contributions.

Applicants should have at least three to five years’ experience covering gender justice, including trans and queer liberation, reproductive justice, racial justice, and/or immigration reform; and general assignments. If you don't fit perfectly into this criteria but have a strong reporting background and want to tell us about the interest and unique skills and experience you would bring to this coverage area, we encourage you to apply. SALARY & COMPENSATION
